Developed together with Anders Eriksson, who has extensive experience working horses on the long reins.
A flexible long-reining surcingle with an articulated frame for maximum adjustability and comfort. The leather is vegetable-tanned, allowing it to breathe better and be gentle on the horse’s skin. With use, the leather softens and naturally shapes itself, providing improved comfort. Contains no heavy metals, such as chromium, making it gentler on the environment, animals, and people. Horsehair-stuffed panels for the best fit.
This frame has two high-positioned rein rings that make it easier to adjust the rein to the desired height. The rectangular shape helps lift the rein away from the horse’s neck. This reduces the risk of pressure. The design is primarily intended to keep the rein off the neck of a large horse with a broader neck. Pressure on the neck from the rein can easily cause the horse to evade the contact, regardless of the signals you are sending.
The frame provides good wither clearance.
All fittings are made of stainless steel.
Options
- Surcingle girth (surcingle girth or padded elastic) – sold separately.
- Back strap with crupper – stabilises the surcingle
- Leather-wrapped ring frame – for personal style
Sizes
The surcingle is available in two sizes: Full and Pony.
Tips & Advice
Surcingle size Pony is recommended for A–C ponies.
The surcingle girth is available in different lengths, allowing the circumference to be adjusted. This makes the surcingles very flexible and suitable for many different types of horses.
A good complement is a back strap with crupper. It stabilises the long-reining surcingle and helps prevent it from sliding forward towards the horse’s shoulders.
